About the Teacher
Ms. Lynn Sullivan
¡ Hola !
I am excited to be a Highland Lakes teacher!!!
In high school, I began studying world languages. In college, I studied French, Spanish and Latin, earning a degree in secondary education. Some of my time in college was spent studying abroad, a true immersion experience. I’ve completed the coursework for a Masters of Bilingual Education at ASU, studying in-depth how people acquire (not just learn) another language.
I taught in Oklahoma until I moved to Phoenix. Here, I've taught in both private and public schools for over 26 years. For over a decade, I taught Spanish and French at the high school level at a different Phoenix school system. During my time in Deer Valley, I taught International Baccalaureate (IB) French to 6th, 7th and 8th grade for five years and, this previous year, I joined the Bears at Highland Lake to teach Spanish.
My home life revolves around my adult sons and taking care of their cats. And Legos. We LOVE Legos. I doubt if I could go ten feet in any direction in my house and not be able to find some sort of Lego. When my boys were little, we visited Legoland, California several times every year. You really haven't celebrated New Years Eve until you have the Block Drop and fireworks to ring in the New Year!! I visited Legoland, Florida (all by myself) a few summers ago after I attended an IB school training session. It was a blast to run around there in the rain. Both of my sons have now graduated from ASU. I know as a teacher and a mom how valuable those scholarships are!! I want to help you succeed and get fantastic scholarships if college is your destination.
If I were not a teacher, I would choose to be a full-time photographer. Taking portraits and capturing a slice of history are very important and fun for me. Looking at other peoples' photos inspires me to travel and have adventures. Being able to speak so many languages allows me to travel with ease and get to know new people and explore exciting places.
Here's hoping for a bright future filled with ♥ love and language ♥,
Señora Sullivan
